PROSOFT MVI69E-MBTCP Modbus TCP/IP Enhanced Communication Module equips CompactLogix 1769 controllers with native Modbus TCP/IP client and server connectivity over a single Ethernet port, eliminating external gateways for SCADA integration and multi-vendor networks. It occupies one standard 1769 slot and transfers data as scheduled I/O words using Add-On Instructions in RSLogix/Studio 5000 v16+.

The module supports up to 20 simultaneous client connections issuing configurable command lists plus 20 server connections, sharing a 10,000-word data map that ladder logic moves between controller tags and Ethernet peers. Engineers match the 60/120/240-word I/O size to application throughput needs while the module handles Modbus TCP framing as a co-processor.
