Description
DEIF MTR-4 is a programmable multi-transducer used in industrial electrical power monitoring to measure RMS voltage, current, power, energy, frequency, and THD across single- and three-phase networks. It consolidates multiple electrical parameters into analog outputs and RS485 Modbus data for PLC/SCADA systems.
Configured via USB or RS485 using DEIF’s M-Set software, this device supports up to four analog outputs (configurable ranges) and high accuracy (class 0.5/0.4) at fast refresh rates (~50 ms). Typical lead time for new stock is 4–8 weeks; surplus inventory may ship within 1–2 weeks once ordered.
Phase 1 — Pre-Installation (est. 10 min)
Lock out/tag out power. Wait 5 min for discharge. Tools: insulated screwdrivers, torque driver, Fluke 115 multimeter, label tags. Record existing panel wiring. Check network type (single vs three-phase) and transformer ratios for current/voltage inputs.
Phase 2 — Removal (est. 5 min)
Label each conductor before loosening. Unmount the MTR-4 from DIN rail; do not twist while removing. Inspect terminals for corrosion or embedded ferrite residues.
Phase 3 — Installation (est. 10 min)
Wear ESD protection first. Confirm part number. Mount on 35 mm DIN rail. Tighten supply and measurement terminations to ~0.5 N·m. Connect RS485 shielded twisted pair for Modbus; tie shield per your site grounding scheme.
Phase 4 — Power-On & Testing (est. 15–20 min)
Apply universal auxiliary supply (24–250 V DC or 48–230 V AC). Observe PWR LED. Connect via USB to DEIF M-Set to configure measurement ratios (CT/VT), output scaling, and Modbus registers. Poll values in the host PLC/DCS to verify correct scaling. Run stability checks for 15–30 min and log results.
Troubleshooting quick-reference
- No RS485 comms → check baud/parity, polarity, termination resistor
- Incorrect measurements → verify CT/VT ratio settings
- No analog outputs → confirm output range configs in software
