This eliminates the cost of unused contacts found in higher I/O models (e.g., the “2G” version).

    GE retained the identical dual-processor architecture (DSP for protection, ARM for communication and logic) and the full FlexLogic™ engine, so there is zero compromise on protection speed, GOOSE performance, or custom scheme capability. Trip times remain sub-cycle (<12 ms) for close-in faults, and the relay can exchange hundreds of GOOSE messages per second without affecting deterministic protection.

    This configuration is the sweet spot for utilities and industries that need modern IEC 61850 communication, full reclosing, and advanced monitoring but rarely require more than 16 inputs or 8 outputs per bay.
