Technical Architecture & Functional Positioning

The F650MMDF1G1HIR6E is the motor-specific derivative of the F650 platform, replacing general-purpose feeder protection elements with the industry’s most accurate thermal model (IEC 60255-8 compliant) and direct 12-channel RTD integration. This eliminates separate motor protection relays, RTD modules, and overtemperature controllers.

GE’s dual-processor design isolates the real-time thermal calculations and current-based protection on the DSP, while the ARM processor handles RTD scanning, FlexLogic, and communication. The result is 100 % deterministic protection even when 12 RTDs are scanned every 500 ms and hundreds of GOOSE messages are exchanged.

The built-in arc-flash option (4 point sensors) provides detection-to-trip times under 2 ms, significantly faster than traditional light-only systems when combined with current supervision.
