Technical Architecture & Functional Positioning

The F7130A is the single most critical module in any HIQuad installation: it is the only source converting mains power into the regulated 24 V that feeds the entire safety PLC rack. In redundant configurations (standard for SIL 3), two F7130A modules operate in active-active mode with automatic load sharing via external diodes or via the F7131 monitoring module. The unit includes continuous self-diagnostics that report input failure, output over/under voltage, and internal temperature to the CPU, enabling predictive replacement before a hard fault occurs.

HIMA engineered the F7130A with a robust primary-side topology (active PFC + LLC resonant converter) that achieves >90 % efficiency and extremely low heat dissipation, allowing full 40 A operation in +50 °C ambient without forced ventilation. This is decisive in offshore or desert installations where cooling capacity is limited.
