Technical Architecture & Functional Positioning
The HCU16AO is a high-density analog output module in the Triconex TMR (Triple Modular Redundant) architecture. Each channel is physically triplicated across three independent legs (A, B, C), with mid-value selection and 2oo3 voting performed in real time by the main processors. This guarantees that a single-point failure in any output circuit cannot cause an erroneous actuator command — critical for ESD valves, modulating control valves, and turbine trip circuits.
Individual channel isolation and internal loop power eliminate common-mode ground faults that plague non-TMR systems. The integrated HART modem on every channel allows simultaneous safety-critical 4–20 mA control and asset-management data without additional multiplexers — a major advantage in hybrid safety + basic process control (BPCS) applications.

- Monitoring of loop voltage, current accuracy, and leg disagreement alarms
