Each CHARM eliminates traditional cross-wiring by providing a single, universal connection point that adapts to the required I/O type via software configuration. This high-density high-power DO CHARM is specifically engineered for applications where standard 0.5–1 A outputs are insufficient, such as large solenoid valves in emergency shutdown systems, motor-operated valves, or high-current annunciator circuits.
Internally, the module uses robust high-side MOSFET switches with active current limiting and thermal monitoring. When a channel exceeds 3.5 A or detects excessive temperature, the output automatically shuts down while raising a diagnostic alarm—preventing device damage and enabling predictive maintenance. Channel-to-channel isolation of 250 V AC eliminates the need for external interposing relays in mixed-voltage installations, reducing cabinet space and commissioning time.
In safety-instrumented systems (SIS), pairing the HD22010-3 with LS (Logic Solver) CHARM baseplates allows direct connection to final elements rated up to 3 A without additional marshalling, achieving SIL 2/3 capability with full diagnostics (line monitoring, proof testing, and partial stroke support when used with appropriate valve positioners).
