The UTIMETER GTEX is a hermetically sealed turbine flowmeter engineered for precision volumetric measurement of gases and steam in industrial processes. Its core function is to provide highly accurate flow readings under demanding conditions where contamination, moisture, or high pressure could compromise measurement integrity.
The hermetic seal ensures that the rotor and bearings are completely isolated from external process gases, preventing ingress of moisture, particulates, or corrosive substances that could affect the meter’s accuracy or lifetime. This design also reduces wear and prolongs MTBF, which is critical in continuous process industries such as power generation, petrochemicals, and chemical production.
The turbine rotor spins proportionally to volumetric flow rate, and integrated electronic sensors convert rotational speed into frequency or pulse signals. These signals can be transmitted to Honeywell DCS platforms (TDC3000, Experion PKS) or compatible PLCs for flow computation, control loops, and process monitoring. Hermetic sealing ensures stable measurement even under fluctuating pressure, temperature, or humid conditions.
GTEX flowmeters are engineered with precision rotor dynamics and low-friction bearings, providing fast response time and exceptional repeatability. High-pressure capability and a wide flow range make the unit suitable for both small bypass streams and full-scale industrial main lines. The combination of robust mechanical construction and isolated electronics ensures reliable operation in environments with vibration, temperature variation, and electrical noise.
The device occupies a field instrumentation layer within a process control system, acting as a primary measurement point. Its output feeds either directly into DCS/PLC analog or digital input channels, enabling real-time process optimization, flow ratio calculation, and safety interlock logic. Hermetic design also facilitates long-term maintenance-free operation, minimizing production interruptions.
