    Product Introduction

    Starting with field temperature measurements, MTL Instruments MTL8206-TI-IS-02 accepts 2/3/4-wire RTDs and resistance inputs from intrinsically safe zones and conditions them for safe-area controllers. It’s a dedicated analog input module suited for process automation and hazardous area signal interfacing.

    Rated for eight independent channels with 16-bit resolution, this module handles RTD excitation at ~211 μA and delivers galvanically isolated data to your PAC or SIS. Typical lead time is 6–8 weeks if not in surplus stock.

     

    Installation & Configuration Guide

    Phase 1 — Pre-Installation (est. 10 min)

    Unplug power and wait 5 min for stored energy to dissipate. Tools: insulated screwdriver, torque driver, ESD wrist strap, label tags, Fluke 115 multimeter. Backup controller configs and photograph existing module’s DIP/jumper settings and wiring. Confirm hazardous area class before opening any terminals.

    Phase 2 — Removal (est. 5 min)

    Tag every conductor before loosening. Unlatch from DIN rail; remove module perpendicular to backplane to avoid pin damage. Inspect backplane connectors and field terminals for corrosion or bent pins.

    Phase 3 — Installation (est. 10 min)

    Wear ESD protection first. Match MTL8206-TI-IS-02 part number to your order. Set jumpers exactly as per photos. Seat module until the DIN rail latch engages. Tighten field terminations to ~0.5 N·m. Confirm intrinsic safety barriers are in place as per system design.

    Phase 4 — Power-On & Testing (est. 15 min)

    Check supply: typically 24 V DC ±10 %. Watch LED statuses on power-up (green = OK; red/amber indicates errors). Connect host software to verify each channel’s RTD/Ω reading. Log readings, test alarms, and confirm stability for >30 min under load. Update maintenance logs.
