Description
Product Introduction
The ABB REF610 is a compact, numerical feeder protection relay engineered for non-directional overcurrent and earth-fault protection in medium-voltage distribution networks, industrial facilities, and power plants. As an essential component of substation automation schemes, this Intelligent Electronic Device (IED) is designed to safeguard radial feeders, drive motors, and distribution transformers against thermal overloads, short-circuits, and low-level ground faults.
The REF610 features a distinct mechanical design with a draw-out plug-in unit housed in a compact aluminum casing. This layout allows for rapid maintenance adjustments or unit swaps without disturbing the rear terminal block wiring. Operating on advanced digital signal algorithms, the relay continuously monitors real-time phase currents and processes accurate true RMS values to eliminate nuisance tripping caused by high-order harmonics. With its built-in serial communication interface, the REF610 integrates into master SCADA control systems, providing remote monitoring, telemetry reporting, and comprehensive event log analysis.
Quality Control & Inspection Standard Operating Procedure
To ensure the absolute field readiness of our surplus inventory and verify that every protection module meets native operating benchmarks, each unit undergoes our strict five-stage engineering validation process:
1. Inbound Inspection
- Hardware Suffix Decoding: Mapping out the complete alphanumeric order code on the relay casing to confirm the specific auxiliary voltage limits, earth-fault input scaling, and interface configurations.
- Mechanical Frame Evaluation: Inspecting the aluminum pull-out housing, locking handles, and clear front cover to ensure zero stress fractures, structural warping, or environmental seal degradation.
- Rear Contact Micro-Check: Verifying that all push-in clip terminals and multi-pin terminal blocks are straight, uncorroded, and completely free of metallic oxidation.
