Product Introduction
Bently Nevada 2300/20-CN delivers continuous vibration monitoring and protection for balance-of-plant rotating equipment such as pumps, fans, motors, and small compressors. The compact unit accepts two acceleration, velocity or proximity inputs plus one dedicated speed/keyphasor channel and provides two configurable 4-20 mA outputs plus relay contacts.
In field deployments the monitor’s synchronized sampling and Modbus/TCP interface let maintenance teams trend overall values and alarm data without a full System 1 installation. Power draw stays under 7.5 W at 18–36 V DC; the 127 × 127 × 76 mm package mounts on panel or DIN rail.
Installation & Configuration Guide
Phase 1 — Pre-Installation (est. 10 min)
De-energize the 24 V DC supply and wait 5 min for residual discharge. Tools needed: torque screwdriver, Fluke 115 multimeter, ESD wrist strap and mat. Export any existing BNMC configuration file. Photograph current wiring, terminal labels and sensor cable routing.
Phase 2 — Removal (est. 5 min)
Label every wire before disconnecting. Release panel fasteners or DIN-rail latch. Pull the unit straight out; inspect connector pins and housing for damage.
Phase 3 — Installation (est. 10 min)
Apply ESD protection first. Verify the part number on the nameplate matches 2300/20-CN. Mount on panel or DIN rail. Replicate prior sensor and relay wiring; torque terminals to ~0.5 N·m. Run the pre-power checklist: polarity, ground continuity, sensor open-circuit voltage.
Phase 4 — Power-On & Testing (est. 15 min)
Confirm supply voltage is 18–36 V DC. Observe status LEDs and local display. Connect BNMC software, download configuration, and verify both vibration channels plus speed input. Perform a functional test of alarm set points and 4-20 mA outputs. Confirm stable operation >30 min, then log the swap.
Troubleshooting quick-reference:
- No comms → check Ethernet cable, IP address and Modbus settings
- ERR steady → firmware mismatch; update via BNMC
- Download fails → verify cable type and BNMC version
