ICS Triplex T8451 is a Trusted TMR 24 Vdc digital output module that drives up to 40 field devices. Outputs are arranged in five isolated groups of eight channels sharing a common power source and return.
Each channel uses a six-element voted array under Triple Modular Redundancy. The design meets IEC 61508 SIL 3 requirements for first-fault fault-tolerant and second-fault fail-safe behavior. On-board diagnostics, line monitoring, automatic over-current protection and 1 ms Sequence of Events reporting support critical safety and control applications in process industries.

Q: Does this module support hot-swapping?
A: Yes. The module is hot-replaceable. Use the dedicated Companion Slot or SmartSlot configuration so the TMR Processor can educate the replacement online without process interruption. Always follow the chassis procedure and confirm the adjacent slot is correctly wired.
Q: Is the T8451 obsolete? Are there direct replacements?
A: The Trusted platform remains supported for installed bases. Exact form-fit replacements use the same T8451 base model. Confirm any “C” or revision suffix against the existing unit and verify firmware compatibility with the TMR Processor before ordering.
Q: Will I lose configuration or SOE data during replacement?
A: Configuration resides in the Trusted Controller. The replacement module is educated online by the TMR Processor once inserted. SOE history remains in the system; no field-device reprogramming is required if the termination assembly is unchanged.
