Marine automation systems lose visibility when input modules drop out. The Kongsberg RDI-32 8100154 collects 32 digital signals from field devices and transmits them over redundant CAN Open to the control system. It fits engine rooms, pump stations, and auxiliary systems on vessels.
This unit handles dry contacts or active signals depending on variant. It operates reliably from −15 to +70 °C with full self-diagnostics and time-stamping. In field use, the plug-in terminals and status LEDs speed up fault finding. Bottom line — it delivers clean data without constant babysitting.
nstallation & Configuration Guide
Phase 1 — Pre-Installation (est. 10 min): De-energize the cabinet. Wait 5 minutes for discharge. Export current configuration. Photograph all wiring, CAN terminations, and module settings. Gather tools: torque screwdriver, wrist strap, Fluke 115 multimeter.
Phase 2 — Removal (est. 5 min): Label every wire and CAN cable. Disconnect pluggable terminals. Release DIN rail latch. Pull the module straight out. Check backplane or connector pins for wear.
Phase 3 — Installation (est. 10 min): Use ESD protection. Verify part number and revision. Replicate wiring exactly from photos. Seat firmly until latched. Torque terminals to 0.5 N·m. Double-check CAN bus termination (120 Ω at ends only).
Phase 4 — Power-On & Testing (est. 15 min): Apply 24 V DC within tolerance. Confirm green power LED and CAN status. Connect to host system. Verify all 32 channels via engineering station. Test full signal loop. Run stable for 30+ minutes and log the swap.
Troubleshooting quick-reference: No comms → check CAN wiring, termination, and node address. ERR LED → power or sensor excitation overload. Input not detected → verify signal type matches module variant.
