Description
ProSoft MVI56-PDPMV1 is a PROFIBUS DP-V1 master communication module designed for integration with Rockwell ControlLogix platforms, enabling deterministic data exchange between PLCs and distributed field devices such as drives, I/O blocks, and analyzers.
Built for industrial network bridging, this module supports up to 125 PROFIBUS slave devices and operates at speeds up to 12 Mbps, making it suitable for high-node count architectures. In practice, lead time varies — surplus stock can ship within days, while configured units may require 2–6 weeks depending on sourcing.
Installation & Configuration Guide
Phase 1 — Pre-Installation (est. 10 min)
Power down chassis; wait 5 minutes.
Tools: insulated screwdriver, ESD strap, label tags, laptop with ProSoft Configuration Builder, Fluke 115 multimeter.
Back up PLC project. Export PROFIBUS GSD files. Photograph slot layout and comm wiring.
Phase 2 — Removal (est. 5 min)
Label all cables. Remove module straight out of backplane.
Inspect ControlLogix backplane pins — bent pins happen more often than people admit.
Phase 3 — Installation (est. 10 min)
ESD first. Confirm MVI56-PDPMV1 part number.
Insert into correct slot; seat fully.
Reconnect PROFIBUS cable (check shield termination).
Load configuration via serial or Ethernet.
Phase 4 — Power-On & Testing (est. 15 min)
Apply power.
Check LEDs — RUN, ERR, and PROFIBUS activity.
Download config.
Scan network — verify all slave nodes respond.
Run at least one full data cycle and confirm stable comms >30 min.
