Field signals disappear fast when input modules fail in tight engine control rooms. The Kongsberg RDI-32XE 333523 reads 32 dry contact inputs and sends them via redundant CAN Open to the host automation system. It targets vessels and offshore platforms needing reliable discrete monitoring.
This dry contact version draws about 1.5 mA per active channel. It runs from −15 to +70 °C and includes per-channel LEDs plus time-stamping. In my experience, the pluggable terminals cut swap time on live systems. Bottom line — it gives clean, timestamped data day after day.
Installation & Configuration Guide
Phase 1 — Pre-Installation (est. 10 min): De-energize the I/O cabinet. Wait 5 minutes. Export current node settings. Photograph wiring, CAN bus, and any address switches. Prepare tools: torque driver, wrist strap, Fluke 115 multimeter.
Phase 2 — Removal (est. 5 min): Tag all wires and CAN cables. Unplug terminals. Release DIN rail latch. Pull module straight out. Inspect connectors.
Phase 3 — Installation (est. 10 min): Apply ESD strap. Confirm exact part number and revision. Copy settings from photos. Seat until latch clicks. Torque to 0.5 N·m. Verify 120 Ω termination at bus ends only.
Phase 4 — Power-On & Testing (est. 15 min): Supply 24 V DC ±10 %. Check power and CAN LEDs. Link to K-Chief or host. Scan all 32 channels. Test one full signal loop. Run 30+ minutes stable then log the change.
Troubleshooting quick-reference: No comms → verify CAN cables, termination, and node ID. ERR LED → check power supply or overload. Input ignored → confirm dry contact wiring matches xe variant.
