Product Introduction
A power semiconductor failure in a medium-voltage drive or STATCOM inverter immediately halts heavy industrial operations and can trigger severe overcurrent faults. The ABB 5SHX2645L0004 IGCT module combines low conduction losses with fast, uniform switching capabilities to handle extreme power demands in harsh environments. Designed for press-pack assembly, it mounts directly into water- or air-cooled stack assemblies without requiring custom mechanical adapters.
Deployed globally in steel mills, marine propulsion units, and renewable energy conversion systems, this module maintains low thermal resistance and dependable switching behavior under heavy duty cycles. The ABB 5SHX2645L0004 integrates with standard optical gate drive controls to keep power conversion equipment running reliably. Listed prices serve as a baseline market reference; actual costs depend on global surplus availability and current lead times. Contact our procurement team directly to request an exact quote.
Installation & Configuration Guide
Phase 1 — Pre-Installation (est. 10 min)
Safely isolate medium-voltage inputs, lock out the drive system, and verify that DC bus capacitors are completely discharged before working on the power stack. Assemble a calibrated torque wrench, clean lint-free cloths, isopropyl alcohol, optical cable tester, and an ESD grounding wrist strap. Inspect heat sink contact surfaces for pitting, debris, or old thermal compound. Take clear photos of fiber-optic cable routing and clamping positions on the active ABB 5SHX2645L0004 unit.
Phase 2 — Removal (est. 5 min)
Carefully disconnect the fiber-optic gate drive cables by pressing their locking tabs. Loosen the stack clamping mechanism evenly across all tension rods to relieve mounting pressure on the press-pack module. Carefully slide the module out from between the heat sink blocks without scratching the pole faces. Clean thermal interface compound off the adjacent heat sink surfaces using isopropyl alcohol.
Phase 3 — Installation (est. 10 min)
Put on your ESD wrist strap and connect its grounding lead to the cabinet frame. Remove the replacement ABB 5SHX2645L0004 from its protective packaging and inspect the ceramic housing and nickel-plated copper pole faces. Apply a thin, uniform layer of recommended thermal grease (if required by stack specs) to both pole faces. Position the module squarely between the heat sink plates, ensuring correct polarity orientation. Tighten the stack clamping bolts in calibrated increments using a torque wrench until reaching specified clamping force (~10 to 40 kN depending on stack specs). Reconnect fiber-optic cables.
